NCF 2011 Accomplishments

Namaste and Season’s Greetings to our friends and supporters. 2011 was a great year for NCF. We support several programs in Nepal, but our pride and joy are the girls in our Simikot boarding hostel in the Humla region. These girls lack access to proper education in their home village of Thehe and this opportunity means a lifetime of change for

each girl.

Meet the girls and read their latest progress reports here!

Early in 2011, Seattle Insight Meditation Society (SIMS) generously funded a site visit to Humla for two volunteers, Megan and Tad Williams, who were able to bring a variety of art and learning activities to our girls at the Simikot boarding hostel. If you didn't read their story in our summer newsletter, you can find it here (PDF).

Later in 2011, Cora Edmonds, NCF co-founder, visited Humla to check the progress of a very exciting project - the construction of our own boarding home for children in Simikot. The girls currently live in a rented building in Simikot while attending school on NCF scholarship. Building our own will allow us to develop the land with gardens, invest in the positive development of the Humla region, and to serve more children.

Your friendship and support mean so much to us and it also means so much to our girls in Humla. The new boarding hostel is almost finished and we can't wait to expand our program in 2012!
